Urban and Community Entrepreneurship Program

Developed by the Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence (IEE) in 2008, the Urban and Community Entrepreneurship Program has fostered economic empowerment in the Greater Pittsburgh area by investing in one business, one job and one individual at a time, including the Community Power to Prosper certification, which specializes in assisting businesses in underserved low-to-moderate income communities, helping them to grow and prosper through collaborative partnerships, consulting services and educational workshops.

Research for Equity and Power

There's power in numbers. With the right resources, communities have the opportunity to enact change for the betterment of their families and fellow residents. Since 2018, the Research for Equity and Power program has worked with residents to understand the capacity they have to influence upcoming and ongoing changes to their community as well as strengthen residents’ ability to influence neighborhood change.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

Katz Graduate School of Business and the College of Business Administration, along with United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania volunteers, have provided free tax preparation assistance for taxpayers and families with incomes less than $60,000 per year.
